The cannabis plants were found in a vacant property in the town

A man is due to appear in court following the discovery of a cannabis factory in Ballymena on Wednesday.

Three others have also been arrested in connection with the incident and a number of searches were carried out in Ballymena following the find. The three, a woman aged 59 and two men aged 58 and 49, were arrested on suspicion of offences including cultivating cannabis and possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply. A PSNI spokesperson said: "A man has been charged to court following the discovery of a substantial quantity of cannabis plants in Ballymena on Wednesday, 27th September.

"Three others were also arrested in conjunction with the find, at a vacant property in the Broughshane Street area. A number of subsequent searches were conducted in the town by officers from the local District Support Team in conjunction with Tactical Support Group colleagues.
