Newsletter| A Gupta family company has launched an urgent court bid which, if successful, would enable it to take more than R1 billion out of the country

The Gupta family allegedly sucked the life out of Optimum mine and now their proxy is fighting for what is left over

Centaur told City Press that this is not the point, adding that it merely wanted a chance to objectively assess the proposed investment and its effect on the company’s claim. However, the BRPs claim that Centaur paid Optimum R2 billion for coal, knowing the latter would not receive most of it. Instead of benefiting Optimum, most of the payment, R1.2 billion, was transferred the very next day to Tegeta and Oakbay.

The BRPs, however, agree with Centaur that Eskom’s claim, which consists mainly of penalties for bad-quality and insufficient coal, is inflated. In its court papers, the company complains that it was not a Gupta conspiracy, but rather, the BRPs who have “run Optimum into the ground” and treated a legitimate creditor, Centaur, with “dismissive contempt”.

Centaur’s two court bids follow a slew of Gupta attempts to apparently gain control over Optimum’s business rescue, or to claim the biggest slice of the R2.5 billion dividend that could flow from a sale of the mine and its valuable export allocation at the Richards Bay Coal Terminal in KwaZulu-Natal.A failed buyout by a disguised Gupta company operating out of Switzerland, called Charles King, last year, andA disputed claim for a R2.

ZUPTAS

Unbelievable! My blood boils

The money belong to South African taxpayers & was looted at Eskom by Guptas!!!!! Gupta's must go to treason & with no money!!!!!

The government must also make a court application to have those assets frozen until the Guptas are made 2 pay back all money they looted with their SA corrupted mercenaries from the mines, SOEs & govt departments.

Then someone in the MYANC with a small mind would say that there is no StateCapture where looting occur

The government must also make a court application to have those assets freezed until the Guptas are made 2 pay back all money they looted with their SA corrupted mercenaries from the mines, SOEs & govt departments.

They should not get even a cent of that money

Let us just apologize to these gupta's ANC ask them to leave us alone..we are trying to clean up their mess, they are wanting more money.

The Guptas have won two previous cases due to poor preparation or incompetence. One can expect that they will win this case as well. Hopeless individuals earning millions with no performance evaluations whilst citizens are poor.

It's really disturbing this thing of guptas , millions are sucked and the government does nothing yet we have a bitter history with these crooks!! Anc kwakhalanyonini😭😒

They want even courts to assist them steal. Indeed this is a country that belongs to everyone who lives in it. No pride, no protection, no culture and no identity. It all about getting what you can at whatever cost.

They will win the interdict and a third of that money will be donated to their favourite party. This is mzansi where wrongs are right, bad is good, death is life.

..SA must be a laughing stock world wide..fugitives claiming a billion to take out of the country..only in a banana republic

Guptas not arrested , Watson not arrested , Zuma Jr and Snr not arrested , Cele not arrested , Mokonanye not arrested , Gwede not arrested , VBS looters not arrested , Ace not arrested , so what is the new hero at the NPA doing ? protecting Cyrils mates 🤔

And still they steal? Hope this is stopped

Ramaphosa must act swiftly and decisively in bringing Guptas to justice. These Indians are cocking a snook at us and itt is not funny.
