The prosecution is appealing a High Court finding that the charges faced by the former prime minister were defective and did not disclose any offence.

Muhyiddin Yassin was acquitted by the High Court of four abuse of power charges, but still faces trial in respect of three counts of money laundering totalling RM200 million.

The charges accused the former prime minister of abusing his powers to obtain RM232.5 million for his political party, Bersatu.The court also instructed the prosecution and Muhyiddin’s defence team to file submissions by Feb 26. Justice Jamil Hussin held that the charges were defective and did not disclose any offence known to law.Besides the four corruption charges, Muhyiddin is facing three counts of money laundering totalling RM200 million.
