Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou files lawsuit alleging breach of constitutional rights GlobeBC

Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou has filed a lawsuit against the federal government, the Canada Border Services Agency and the RCMP, alleging “serious breaches” of her constitutional rights when she was detained at Vancouver International Airport on December 1, 2018.

She has been released on bail and is currently living in Vancouver. U.S. prosecutors accuse Ms. Meng and Huawei of fraud to circumvent U.S. sanctions on Iran.A statement Sunday from law firm Gudmundseth Mickelson LLP, which is representing Ms. Meng, said a notice of civil claim was filed March 1 in the British Columbia Supreme Court.

According to court documents, the claim alleges that CBSA officers, “under the guise of a routine border check, unlawfully subjected [Ms. Meng] to detention, search and interrogation to extract evidence from her before she was arrested and provided with her rights under the Charter.” The federal government took pains to defend Friday's decision to approve extradition hearings, saying in a news release that Canada is following the letter of the law governing such proceedings.

GlobeBC WTF what constitutional right .... China's ... lol , drive her to the peace arch border a drop her off

GlobeBC Yeah, right...just like the Chinese government is bitching because they got busted with their hand in the cookie jar, dealing with Iran when sanctions are in place against that...good luck with that lady...(sarcasm intended)...

GlobeBC Enjoy your rights in Canada 🇨🇦 as they are precious in another country 😂

GlobeBC She wants to stay longer in Canada 🇨🇦 as Canada is nicer than USA.

GlobeBC Oh! So now that Canada kept her from extradiction for all those months, to thank us for being who we are she is going to sue us. We should have given her to the States when they asked, lesson learned!

GlobeBC If Huawei's HQ was in Montreal and employed thousands of people, our approach to the Rule of Law in her case could have been very different.

GlobeBC 'Equal' is the better way, don't forget what CCP did to Canadian

GlobeBC Aaaaw. I wonder how all the politically arrested individuals in communist China feel about her situation.

GlobeBC 孟婆刚被抓为什么不诉?这官司打起来可能十年八年看来还是怕在美国受审心里清楚触犯了美国法律!

GlobeBC National security issue. Revoke her bail and back into the crowbar hotel

GlobeBC Two countries agree to a law where either can request a person sent to another following a legal process , RCMP and CBSA follow a process per Canadian laws . No basis here, her case is yet to be heard so no issue here either

GlobeBC Everyone just take a deep breath. Just a legal delay tactic. Unless of course JT, PCO or PMO got/get involved.

GlobeBC John McCallum was correct and too bad he was shot down as is refreshing to see honesty. She may be acquitted by Canadian justice as it does not matter whether she is a Canadian citizen as anybody on Canadian soil has constitutional rights which is the basis of 'rule of law'. ...

GlobeBC What rights? She is Canadian? A citizen?

GlobeBC Here we go. I smell another 10 million dollar payout.

GlobeBC She won’t win! She is going to the US

GlobeBC Either she or her dad is an idiot...

GlobeBC Get out of our country Meng Wenzhou! You created a shell company so that you could sell technology to Iran and you gave them the ability to make nuclear weapons against the world. You are a traitor worldwide.

GlobeBC This entire affair is a political and economic war being waged by the United States.

GlobeBC is she Canadian? if no then whose constitutional rights?

GlobeBC Too bad she’s not a convicted terrorist, Trudeau would cut her a $10.5 million cheque before the end of the day

GlobeBC Stallinggggggggggg the inevitable.

GlobeBC

GlobeBC Meanwhile the Canadians detained on bogus grounds in China will no doubt be filing lawsuits to assert their constitutional legal rights in the fair, independent and just court system there...oh, I almost forgot.

GlobeBC Meng should get her day in court. Hopefully, justice will be dispensed equitably, as for any Canadian citizen. But there is an undertow of Chinese corruption, money-laundering and bullying in Canadian society that makes me think that this might be a watershed moment.

GlobeBC More corruption from the Trudeau 'Liberals' if proven true

GlobeBC This government is corrupt so we very well may have to lock up the fuckin works

GlobeBC Of course she does comrade

GlobeBC If what is happening at the moment is indicative of the federal Liberal Party Puglaas would be farther ahead to seek re-election as an independent.

GlobeBC What timing - Trudeau pull out the Government cheque book 🙄

GlobeBC Just top wasting tax payers dollars. Hurry the process and stop dragging this.

GlobeBC She is as Canadian as the bricks in the Great Wall. One of many who’ve destroyed the fabric of the west coast in the name of greed, all under the protection of bcliberals christyclarkbc and greedy bc real estate profiteers YVR Asianinvasion

GlobeBC Maybe she could get SNC-Lavalin to help her out. Justice in Canada is clearly all about political connections.

GlobeBC Lock her up!

Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou suing Canada, its border agency and the RCMPLawyers for Meng Wanzhou said Sunday they filed a notice of civil claim in the British Columbia Supreme Court. How lucky for her to be retained in a democratic country that affords her such opportunity. A Canadian doing that in China would find themselves disappeared. Time to hand her over. Get rid of the headache. Maybe think twice before greed takes over next time.
