Malaysia has been re-elected to the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation .
It said Malaysia’s representative, Ahmad Azam Ab Rahman , will serve on the commission for the 2019-2022 term beginning August, succeeding Raihanah Abdullah who will be completing her two-term tenure. The ministry said Ahmad Azam is a well-known activist who is involved in various NGOs in Malaysia and at the international level.
Why should there be differences in treating humanity issues with divisive commissions? Unless the Human Rights Commission of OIC complements or is in sync with that of the UN, another like body would be a waste of international resources.9
