A 29-year-old man's application for bail in the Southport Magistrates Court is adjourned, as a 26-year-old woman remains in hospital with serious head injuries amid fears she may not survive.

A Gold Coast woman's head injuries are so significant that a bail hearing has been adjourned over concerns she may not survive.Piyarah Lasuai, 29, has been charged with grievous bodily harmPiyarad Lasuai, 29, faced Southport Magistrates Court on Friday charged with grievous bodily harm, depravation of liberty and common assault after the 26-year-old woman was hospitalised on Monday night.

His lawyer, Ivan Sayad, attempted to make an application for bail, but that was opposed by prosecutors.Prosecutor Chris Freeman alleged that the woman had ended an eight-year relationship with Mr Lasuai, and had travelled to his house at Broadbeach Waters to return his belongings on Monday. "He's more or less assaulted her, put her in a car and was driving off, and as he was driving off, she's jumped out of the moving vehicle to flee," Mr Freeman said.

"And as a result [she] has incurred the head injury … there are still currently bloodstains on the footpath at the location."He said there was a risk that the woman might not survive the injuries, which could result in Mr Lasuai facing more serious charges. "If she passes away, or the plug is pulled, it becomes murder. If she survives surgery, she's going to have lifelong detrimental issues," Mr Freeman said.If you need help immediately call emergency services on triple-0
