KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has allowed Attorney-General Tommy Thomas to begin contempt proceedings against senior lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah over the latter’s remarks allegedly undermining the administration of justice.
Senior federal counsel Shamsul Bolhassan said the AGC would serve Shafee with the relevant documents within 14 days.The attorney-general had sought to initiate contempt proceedings on grounds that he, as the guardian of public interest, was tasked with protecting the integrity and administration of justice.
Shafee was alleged to have made the comments in question outside the High Court after Najib Razak’s SRC International case mention on Feb 7.
