The police marksman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been remanded ahead of a further court appearance at the Old Bailey on Thursday

A Metropolitan Police officer charged with the murder of Chris Kaba has been remanded in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court ahead of a further appearance at the Old Bailey on Thursday afternoon.

The police marksman, who cannot be named for legal reasons and is known only as NX121, did not speak during the proceedings.Mr Kaba, 24, was shot dead by a single gunshot that pierced the windscreen of a car he was in in Streatham Hill, south-east London, on 5 September last year. The father-of-two, who was unarmed, had been followed by several police vehicles before the shooting.As prosecutor Tom Little KC detailed how the case would progress, members of the public gallery could be heard crying, with some leaving the court.
