The NRL has made a powerful statement on player behaviour and salary cap breaches in a landmark press conference, handing down fines and suspensions to Scott Bolton, Shane Flanagan, Wests Tigers and Cronulla Sharks.
Dylan Napa has been spared a suspensions over lewd videos that were leaked online filmed five years ago, but has been fined 10 per cent of his salary. Bolton, who plead guilty to the common assault of a woman in Bondi last year, has been slapped with a 10-week suspension and a fine totalling five per cent of his salary. However, the penalty will be halved if Bolton agrees to address the captains and senior players of all other teams during this year’s Magic Round in Brisbane in May.
The NRL has also refused to register the contract of Zane Musgrove, who is currently facing indecent assault charges, until the case is concluded.
NRL So does bolton still get to go around making visits to embarrass himself even more?
NRL Napa seems a bit harsh with a 10% fine that’s probably like 50-60k for him. It’s 5 years ago and he’s actually not doing anything wrong. Isn’t the embarrassment of those videos coming out punishment enough?
