N136m fraud: Court sentences ex-Air Force Chief to seven years imprisonment

A former Managing Director of the Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services Ltd, AETSL, Tony OmenyiThe Federal High Court on Thursday sentenced to seven years imprisonment a retired Air Vice Marshal, Tony Omenyi, on money laundering charges involving the sum of N136m which he was said to have received from a contractor with the Nigerian Air Force, while he was a public officer.

The convict, a former Managing Director of Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services Limited, a subsidiary company of NAF, received the money as kickbacks or bribe as from SkyExperts Nigeria Limited, in 2014. Delivering judgment on the three counts preferred against the convict, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, sentenced him to seven years imprisonment on each of the three counts but ruled that the sentences should run concurrently.

The judge also ordered that the company, Huzee Nigeria Limited, through which the convict was said to have received the sum of N136m from the contractor, SkyExperts Nigeria Limited, be wound up by the Federal Government. The court also ordered that the sum of N62m already recovered from the convicts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission be forfeited to the Federal Government.

I applaud this gesture, but I will encourage the government to give more grievous punishment for embezzlement. 7 years too small please!!!

No man is infinitely strong; for every creature that runs, flies, hops or crawls there is a terminal nemesis which he will not circumvent, which will finally do him in. Philip K. Dick

The jail term is not long enough now..he should go for 30 years and not 7 years

In the same country Ganduje recorded several times collecting millions of dollars from a contractor is still a governor and going for re-election. Ganduje of course is from the 97%

He only jails Christians. Corruption is bad & impede national dev don’t get me wrong.Dariye, Ex gov Adamawa , this fellow all Christians. As Buhari doesn’t trust d South&Nigerian Christians is corruption made for only Christians. AVM Badeh wasn’t that lucky he paid with his life.

Oga... Run to APC, your sins will be covered...

There's more to it.

I guess u can see d reason behind all dia cry not to allow buhari to come back

A word of advice. Please monitor that money very closely from jail because by the time you finish serving your term these would’ve happened- if it’s not all squandered or stolen too, your wife or your girlfriends are someone else’s properties- and seven years of your life gone!

Just 7years mtcheeeew

What's the name of the man? If he's not a northerner Muslim name, then don't bother. It is not fight against corruption but fight against ethnicity
