In a statement released on Thursday afternoon, Robert Richter said he had spent “a sleepless night reflecting upon the terrible choice of phrase” that he used in court. The “plain vanilla sex acts” description was “not intended to evade the seriousness of what had been done”, Mr Richter said. “In seeking to mitigate sentence, I used a wholly inappropriate phrase for which I apologise profusely to all who interpreted it in a way it was never intended.
Richter made those comments as a lawyer, not a human. It’s understandable.

Read his words. It is not an apology of making an incorrect or inappropriate comment.. it is providing an apology to those that may be offended by the comment. It appears that he stands by his original comment as he hasn't retracted it.

This is interesting. The phrasing was atrocious. But he was making an argument, however appalling, that he must make to ensure due process of the law. Due process ensures prison terms hold up. I didn’t expect he would apologise & can’t guess his motives but I am pleased he did.

Reporting it cryptic, going against a court suppression order. Tell that to the innocent children he forced anal penetration on. In fact a lot of his victims have committed suicide. I am starting to have doubt after listening to Frank Brennan and others. Pell was hated by many who would like to get rid of him. Talk about the Inquisition and the Borgias!!!!
