Eastern Colorado law enforcement officers arrested a fugitive from Utah after a high-speed chase through three counties on Thursday.

Lincoln County, Limon and Hugo law enforcement officials were informed that a man accused of shooting and seriously injuring a Utah police officer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 on Thursday morning, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Lincoln County Sheriff Tom Nestor, Limon police Chief Lynn Yowell and Hugo Chief Marshal Robert Payne found and attempted to stop the man, who fled. Law enforcement pursued the man in a high-speed chase for 30 miles through three counties before Colorado State Patrol and Kit Carson County Sheriff Travis Belden deflated the man’s tires.

The man fled on foot into a field near Flagler, according to Lincoln County officials, and was arrested soon after. The man was treated for gunshot wounds he sustained in Utah and is currently in custody at the Lincoln County Jail.
