ET MELBOURNE, Australia—The most senior Vatican official to stand trial on child sex-abuse charges was found guilty of assaulting two choirboys at a church in his former diocese, though a second trial won’t proceed after prosecutors dropped the case on Tuesday. The guilty verdict was issued on Dec. 11 against Cardinal George Pell.

Convicted on one person’s uncorroborated evidence. At the conclusion of Pell’s first trial the jury voted 10:2 for acquittal. Second trial found guilty. If truly guilty he should be jailed but this looks like Australia’s own Alfred Dreyfus affair.

This judgment is good for mankind and for the Cardinal. His period in jail will offer him full opportunity for repentance.
I used to believe in solutions but they aren’t interested in solving this. Like any criminal, the church is only concerned about ITS survival. At this point, I say any innocent clergy need to abandon ship and let the church burn for its sins. By its fruit, ye shall know it.
