Sky News visited the Yorkshire town of Pudsey - a Tory constituency with the 7th highest proportion of mortgages - where many are struggling with rising interest rates to find out what they think ahead of an expected general election next year.Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner has said she will do her"upmost" to give up vaping when asked about her children calling her the"vape dragon".

She is supportive of measures to restrict access to them, however, and said:"I don't want our children being subjected to vaping." So asked on Sky News how Labour would fund pay rises for care workers without raising taxes, Ms Rayner said:"The challenge that we've had 13 years of the Conservatives that have slashed council budgets, so we're seeing this squeeze on council services... because the government has failed to give them long-term funding."

She said strong trade unions and good employers are key to that, as well as"a good state that's willing to invest in our infrastructure for the future". Asked about this morning's figures, Ms Rayner told Sky News:"We've had 13 years of economic failure by the Conservatives, and people can see that their cost of living has increased."

She said the government has been conducting a review of vapes because it is"very worrying" that"young children" are taking up vaping having never smoked. Asked why the bill has taken so long to get through parliament, Ms Donelan said it is a"very comprehensive piece of legislation" that will"tackle this issue with a more comprehensive approach than any other country has managed to do in the world".
