Clark became the 12th defendant to have surrendered and was released on a $100,000 bond. The remaining seven defendants are expected to turn themselves in to Fulton County authorities sometime on Friday. All 19 defendants are facing sweeping charges in connection to alleged efforts to overturn the Georgia 2020 election. Former President Donald Trump, who is among the defendants, turned himself in Thursday night.
Clark is charged with violating Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and criminal attempt to commit false statements and writings. He served as assistant attorney general for the DOJ's Civil Division from September 2020 to January 2021 and allegedly helped promote Trump's since-debunked conspiracy theories that there was widespread voter fraud in the general election.
Prosecutors said in the indictment that Clark pushed to send out a Justice Department letter falsely claiming that investigators had “identified significant concerns that may have impacted the outcome of the election in multiple States.”The mug shots of Trump and his co-defendants are being released by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.
Floyd has a prior record, after being charged in May with simple assault on a federal officer. He allegedly assaulted an FBI agent serving a subpoena at his home in Maryland.
