A Ballarat mother of four pleaded for help in the days before her death, fearing her enraged friend would kill her.Shannon Jeffrey has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and faced the Supreme CourtBut her calls went unanswered and her fears ultimately became reality.A cover-up meant her death was not revealed until eight months later, when her body was found down a mine shaft, after a missing persons investigation.
Jeffrey had been released from prison for less than two weeks when she assaulted Ms Parfitt, causing her death. Crown prosecutor Jeremy McWilliams said Jeffrey told an associate she had assaulted Ms Parfitt, leading to her death, and that she had hung up Ms Parfitt's body to make it look like a suicide.Jeffrey and associate Brendan James Prestage later returned to the home to wrap Ms Parfitt's body in plastic and bedding, fearing Jeffrey's fingerprints were on her body.
