UPDATE: A man who allegedly made threats to other passengers onboard a Malaysian Airlines flight has been escorted off the aircraft in handcuffs after nearly three hours on the tarmac. More than 30 domestic flights have been cancelled. 9News MORE:

Malaysia Airlines flight MH122 left Sydney Airport at 1.40pm yesterday carrying 199 passengers and 12 crew and landed safely back on the runway at 3.47pm, where it sat for hours with emergency vehicles nearby.

He praised the crew for their actions, saying they did well to placate the man and keep passengers as calm as possible."Then people started getting the internet and started seeing headlines that we were taken potentially as a hostage, that's when we actually heard more of a noise and commotion from all of the passengers.

Those who lived in Sydney were allowed to return home after police spoke to the crowd, while others were given vouchers for nearby hotels.Malaysia Airlines said earlier the flight was turned around due to a "disruptive passenger onboard".
