CAPE TOWN - The ongoing taxi strike continues to affect the smooth running of some courts in the Western Cape.

Alleged parliament arsonist, Zandile Mafe, didn't make it to court due to logistical issues and the absence of an interpreter due to the strike. Before postponing the matter, Judge Nathan Erasmus revealed that a second expert also concluded that Mafe was unfit to stand trial.

He said,"Dr N Cassiemjee who is a specialist Dr Cassiemjee came to a range of conclusions after filing which I consider a comprehensive report. So two things will happen from here on. one, the defence must make the election and that election can either be the election by the accused subject to how you interpret the act. Because the finding is also that he is unfit to stand trial. Then the state would want to prove the offence and then I would have to make an order.
