A Northumberland County woman opts not to withdraw her no-contest plea and go to trial for the 2021 homicide.

charge in the 2021 stabbing death of her husband has received a considerably longer sentence than the plea agreement recommended.

Lisa Karlaza, 55, was sentenced Thursday to 15 to 40 years in prison by county Judge Paige Rosini who rejected the plea agreement that called for a term of 6 to 20 years. Karlaza had the option of withdrawing her plea and standing trial but chose to let it stand and accept the longer sentence.
