Trump will appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya at 4 p.m. Thursday at the E. Barrett Prettyman courthouse.He has been charged with four counts by special counsel Jack Smith for his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the actions that led to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Trump is expected to plead not guilty.
The former president has denied any wrongdoing, calling the indictment a"witch hunt" and Smith a"deranged" prosecutor.He is also facing two other indictments, one at the state level and another at the federal level. Smith's second investigation into Trump's handling of classified documents resulted in an indictment in June.
