7NEWS: Pharmacist in Perth, Tasmania, filled over 100 prescriptions while drunk

Paul Nicholas Schild filled over 100 prescriptions at his pharmacy while drunk.He filled 114 prescriptions for schedule 8 medications and drugs of dependence.

Schedule 8 medications are medicines that can only be supplied by a pharmacist on prescription and are subject to tight restrictions because of their potential to produce addiction.Paul Nicholas Schild previously owned and was the sole pharmacist at healthSAVE pharmacy in Perth, Tasmania.The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency later opened an investigation into Schild’s actions at work.

There has been no suggestion that any patients’ or persons’ health was adversely affected as a result of Schild’s actions. Conditions were imposed on Schild in April, including mandatory alcohol breath testing 30 minutes or less before and after he started work. He was also required to undergo a health assessment, which found the consumption of alcohol did affect his capacity to do his job on November 6 in 2020.He is currently operating a hobby farm.If you’d like to view this content, please adjust your
