EFF leader Julius Malema’s battle with law enforcement agencies is far from over

Malema revealed that after being haunted by law enforcement agencies since his days as ANC Youth League president, some of the agencies have not given up hope of sending him to jail. He said one of the state agencies, the SA Revenue Services was still pursuing him with the hope of nailing him.“Just three weeks ago, SARS visited my aunt’s home because her son is associated with me. And because they wanted to inflict pain on me, they could not find anything,” he said on Thursday night.

SARS claims that Malema owed R18 million in tax arrears and R2 million in interest for the 2005 to 2011 tax years. He said to some extent, they succeeded because he missed many calls from his cousin that he only learnt about the persistent phone calls when he called him back. “I am not scared because if I do that, my family will be a playground [for these people]. My family has been supporting me, they stood by me,” he said.

He recalled how the EFF was conceived. He said the idea of forming a political party came after he was expelled from the ANC.
