Damon McDowall, 24, and Cameron Woods, 25, appeared in private at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday where they made no plea before being remanded in custody.

Two men have appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a 26-year-old was left 'fighting for his life' in Paisley.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the town’s Maxwellton Street at around 5.30pm on Sunday following reports of an incident. The alleged victim was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where medics had described his condition as “critical”.The duo both made no plea during a private hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday afternoon.

Prosecutors have accused McDowall, 24, of attempted murder, threatening or abusive behaviour and a breach of bail.Both men, who are from Paisley, have been remanded in custody and are due to reappear within eight days.Police Scotland Detective Inspector Nicola Wake said: “We would like to thank the public for their assistance with our enquiries, following our earlier appeal.
