When I was in middle school reading this stuff was fun.. I had an edition where a fish had a lucky spot and if you touch it you can win a million dollars or get good luck. Rich people gets drawn in with a superstition magazine over a poor boy reader digest? 😦
It's funny reading, it's just based on extended fabrication. Denying imaginative tabloids takes the fun out of mom and pop shops. Aliens, UFO, mystery monster, unexplain stuff... Getting mad at this makes you a rubber necker.

Bezos is seeking to tar & feather the source for his own indiscretions. Enquirer is protecting its source. The result of the Enquirer's offer is a Non disclosure agreement. No Publication and no source. Neither side has monetary gain. WaPo with its journalistic integrity agrees?
Since the Enquirer apparently has supressed information on certain people (AHEM! realDonaldTrump ), it would be interesting to see if they are using information suppression to influence peoples decisions.
If this doesn't meet the standard for extortion there is something wrong with the law. There has to be a demand for something of value? It seems to me that a man's reputation and dignity would fulfill that requirement. Especially when that man and his businesses are so entwined.
