Former ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule has told the Supreme Court of Appeal his successor, Fikile Mbalula, was aware of an ANC contract with KwaZulu-Natal-based company Ezulweni Investments.

In an affidavit filed before the court, Magashule said the decision to erect the banners was made after party leaders expressed concern about voter apathy. He added Mbalula, as then-ANC head of elections, was tasked with printing the banners that carried the face of President Cyril Ramaphosa and to engage with various service providers, including Ezulweni Investment - the company at the centre of the dispute.
