The younger Biden emerged with his wife, Melissa Cohen, and son Beau Biden for a trip to the White House from Camp David, in the latest example of the president continuing to publicly embrace his son. Hunter Biden also spent the previous weekend with his father at Camp David. But Republicans say the Hunter Biden saga is far from over. They say the plea deal he reached with the Department of Justice doesn't address the more serious allegations of foreign influence peddling that could also involve his father.
Republicans also say the lenient charges reflect a two-tiered system of justice, especially in comparison to the 37 charges levied against former President Donald Trump. Hunter Biden was seen at a White House state dinner that featured Attorney General Merrick Garland in the wake of his plea deal announcement in June.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to substantively answer the questions, instead pointing to White House counsel, which said"the president was not in business with his son."
