Lawyers for Civil Rights is arguing that Harvard should no longer give preferential treatment to wealthy applicants in light of last week's decision.

Participants march and chant slogans at a rally protesting the Supreme Court's ruling against affirmative action on Harvard University Campus.ruled last week that Harvard’s admissions process, which factored race into decisions about which candidates to accept, was unconstitutional. The college is still allowed to consider whether applicants are relatives of alumni, though, which has led a civil rights group to file a complaint in light last week’s decision.

The complaint, filed with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, notes that both 70 percent of applicants with relatives at Harvard and applicants whose relatives are Harvard donors are white.
