Counsel for the US government told the High Court that the imposition of any potential restrictions on the social media giant would have adverse effects on US commerce

The US government has been added to Meta’s case against the Data Protection Commissioner over its record fine of €1.2 billion, a High Court judge has ruled.

Mr Justice Denis McDonald granted an application brought by counsel for the US government to be an “amicus curiae”, or friend of the court, on the basis that it had a significant interest in the outcome of the proceedings.
