Two policemen claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court, Friday, to two counts of assaulting two people in separate incidents.

Corporal Rizal Lee Abdullah, 34, and Sergeant Fredy Anak Francis, 32, who appeared before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun pleaded not guilty, respectively.Rizal was alleged to have voluntarily caused hurt to Jumaidi Juna, 44, at 8.15pm, on Oct 6, 2022 at the Malaysia Airlines Bhd staff parking lot of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport . Fredy was accused of causing injury to Sarah Hafizah Lok, 22, at 11.50pm on Jan 23, in front of a bar at the Waterfront, here.

Meanwhile, an Indonesian man was charged with assaulting a woman with a stick. Raimon Wadang, 31, was accused of voluntarily causing hurt to Kerol Cornelis at 5am on Nov 27 at the Dewan Raya Bunga Patuma compound in Kepayan. The charge under Section 324 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 10 years or fine or whipping or with any two of the punishment, on conviction. Inspector Albert Basiri in applying for a case management date proposed bail at RM3,000 in two sureties.
