has done a good job publishing a series of stories, charts and graphs comparing Texas with other states. Sadly, Texas, even with a budget surplus, growing population and strong tax base, continues to drop below other states in quality of life, public education, health care, public safety and other important categories.This trend has continued for years with the same politicians promising to fix things, but after the elections, they do nothing.

In his letter, our esteemed U.S. Sen. John Cornyn has several recommendations to solve our immigration problems such as, “Congress should take action to harness the power of immigrant labor” and “the only way to create durable and effective immigration pathways is through congressional action,” and finally, “Congress must find the political will to enact bipartisan reforms.”

Senator, you have served in the Senate for 21 years and are the senior senator from Texas. Maybe you should start implementing the actions about which you wax so poetically.I listen to the concerned voices about books being taken out of school libraries. Some consider this outrageous. But it’s really puzzling because we’ve been very selective about what movies our children see for years without all this outrage.

A veto-proof GOP legislature has taken control of many city laws, such as zoning and housing, and negated them. It makes many of us furious, and I can only hope that voters will remember this and scream loudly at the ballot box.Re: “State high court shields ERCOT — Ruling says grid operator can’t be sued over deadly 2021 winter storm,” Saturday news story.

I expect that the paper’s Watchdog, Dave Lieber, will find some very important and interesting insight into how ERCOT functions from access to those records.
