At present, the suspension granted by the court after its ruling in March is set to expire at the end of next month

The attorney general has urged the Supreme Court to grant a four-year suspension to a declaration that the law governing the election of senators to the Seanad university panels in unconstitutional.

Rossa Fanning told a seven-judge Supreme Court this morning that “very serious” consequences could arise if the “cushion” of extending a suspended declaration was not granted.
