The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court at Yaba has ordered the remand of a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Amodu Awama, in the Kirikiri custodial centre.

The prosecutor explained that Awama was arrested at Gemade Estate, Egbeda, Alimosho Local Government Area of the state on June 23, 2023.

The prosecutor submitted before the court that criminal conspiracy is an offence contrary to Section 97 of the Penal Code, while membership of a terror group violates Section 4 of the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act 2013. Momoh prayed the magistrate to make an order remanding the defendant in custody for a period of 30 days to enable the police to complete their investigation.

The magistrate, Olatunbosun, granted the application as prayed and adjourned till July 28 for legal advice by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. All rights reserved.
