I believe the Alabama AG’s report shows why open carry laws are a bad idea in the first place. In a situation where there’s a active shooting, it makes it harder for the police to tell who the assailant is.

Police officers are given a lot of power, and they’re expected to wield it to a much higher standard than the rest of us would. When they behave no better than us, or even worse than most of us, they should no longer be police officers.

While it is terrible he died, he did run towards the shooting while holding a gun. There definitely are cases of an officer's racism ending in a wrongful death, but this was a mistake made in the heat of the moment
