The overturning of Roe v. Wade brought uncertainty for reproductive rights. On TheAssignment, AudieCornish checks in on the activists defending women who are being criminally prosecuted in states and counties that restrict abortion.

Or it's not – like it sounds like that's not how law enforcement is getting tipped off. Is that correct?That's correct. And the way they're getting tipped off is, unfortunately, through health care providers and child welfare workers. The most typical sort of chain of events is someone experiences a medical emergency. They're experiencing pregnancy loss. They call 911 or they go to the hospital.

And because they filed in a district court in Texas where they knew they would have a friendly judge, and then that case got appealed to the Fifth Circuit, which is sort of notoriously known for for its conservative and anti-abortion views. You know, this group knew that they had a pretty good shot at at least, you know, creating the kind of chaos that that we've seen since Dobbs.
