In a searing report tabled in parliament yesterday, the former High Court judge appointed to investigate whether Ms Gobbo or her police handlers should be prosecuted Director of Public Prosecutions Kerri Judd QC pushed back against recommendations that charges be laid over the informer scandal. The DPP said any successful prosecution would hinge on the evidence of a convicted criminal who was represented by Ms Gobbo, but who had shown reluctance to testify and whose evidence to the royal commission that investigated the Lawyer X scandal would have been inadmissible in a criminal case.
