Member for Sydney Alex Greenwich will give notice of his equality legislation, which he says will bring NSW in line with other Labor states.

Mr Greenwich said the bill would modernise the language in a range of laws.

Practices causing physical or psychological harm would be made a criminal offence, and advertising a change or suppression practice would be illegal. Mr Greenwich said the legislation is modelled on laws passed in the ACT this month, in an Australian first. Mr Greenwich conceded the changes may not all happen at once, and that some aspects "may require further consultation".
