Hunter Biden to Plead Guilty in Justice Department Probe

will plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and face a charge in connection to an illegal purchase of a handgun, according to a court filing's son will face probation for failing to pay his taxes on time in 2017 and 2018, but will not face prosecution for purchasing a handgun in 2018 during a time when he was using drugs. The deal—which was struck by US attorney for Delawareappointee—is contingent on Hunter Biden staying drug-free for two years and agreeing to never own a firearm.

Tuesday’s court filing did not include any charges related to Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings, which were also reportedly under investigation by the Justice Department. There are, however, ongoing congressional investigations into the Biden family. Republicans have seized on Hunter Biden’s past in an apparent effort to deflect from the mounting legal troubles facing Donald Trump and his family.
