It is worth recalling that Jean Truchon himself, whose case eradicated the “reasonably foreseeable natural death” safeguard, confessed that he may not have sought MAID had he been able to access better care.Article content As a healthy senior, I take great comfort in knowing that should the time come where I am either terminal or have lost my quality of life with no chance of improvement given my age and life expectancy, I have MAID as an option. I am even more comforted by the fact that the law is in the process of allowing Alzheimer’s patients the opportunity to request MAID in advance.
