SaharaReporters earlier reported that global human rights body, Amnesty International, demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Sogunro, saying that it was gravely concerned by the arrest of the lawyer by the police in Abuja.The Nigeria Police Force has released human rights lawyer, Dr. Ayo Sogunro, over 18 hours after he was arrested by officers of the force from his hotel in Abuja.
Amnesty had said that Sogunro who recently returned to Nigeria for vacation was illegally picked up from his hotel room in the Garki area of the Federal Capital Territory , Abuja. “Still have my phone with me but using it surreptitiously typos please tag the police handles here. Detained at Garki police station. They followed me to my hotel from the airport.”
