Since 2017, nearly 15,000 cases in Harris County have been diverted away from the juvenile court system, according to data released by the county. This work has been executed through diversion programs throughout Houston.

For one young man, this type of intervention changed his life two years ago.

Dr. D. Z. Cofield is senior pastor at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church and is Hope for Families President/CEO.Hope For Families is one of six diversion programs for youth in Harris County.
