Man charged with human trafficking and controlling prostitution offences

A man has been charged with a number of offences including human trafficking and controlling prostitution.

The 59-year-old was arrested by detectives from the PSNI's Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking unit on Wednesday and has since been charged. Read more: Two women arrested over Co Down stabbing incident A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Specialist detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Unit arrested a 59-year-old man in Newtownards yesterday, Wednesday 14th June.

"He has since been charged with two counts of human trafficking, two counts of controlling prostitution for gain, two counts of paying for sexual services and sexual assault."As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our daily newsletter here
