iStock sitting in Benoni on Wednesday, convicted Anselma George Mahumane for raping two teenage girls from Tsakane.The matter was postponed to 30 August 2023 for pre-sentencing.
The first incident happened in December 2013, when Mahumane approached a 13-year-old girl who was walking home to Tsakane extension 1 at an open veld near the fire station. Three years later, in December 2016, the 35-year-old and two other men raped a 16-year-old girl after threatening her with a knife.
Mahumane was arrested but released in April 2017 after the magistrate refused to remand him in custody while DNA evidence was still outstanding, Mahanjana said.He raped a 6-year-old, he said, while too drunk and high to notice. An appeals court didn't buy it"However, Muhumane was rearrested in 2020, after he committed another rape and was sentenced to 10 years of direct imprisonment in July 2021.
