A new court filing in the murder case against Kouri Richins, accused of killing her husband with fentanyl, has cast evidence in the case as being thin and raised an alternative theory on the death of Eric Richins.

"The state has provided no evidence that there was fentanyl in the home," said Skye Lazaro, counsel for Kouri Richins. "Nor have they provided any evidence that Kouri gave the fentanyl at issue."

The statements are in a new motion asking a judge to release Kouri pending her trial, contending the accused killer and mother of three young boys is not a danger and not a flight risk.
