It’s been well over a century since a senior member of the Royal Family gave evidence in court

It used to be the case that peers had a right to be tried by other peers in the House of Lords. That right was removed by the Criminal Justice Act 1948.

The monarch is immune from arrest in all cases. If, for argument’s sake, the monarch murdered someone today, it’s impossible to imagine him getting away with it. He would almost certainly have to abdicate and be tried as a former monarch.
