The House Rules Committee is holding a hearing Monday afternoon on two bills aimed at preventing bans on gas stoves after President Joe Biden's administration proposed energy-efficiency and conservation standards for household appliances earlier this year.

The Biden administration proposed energy-efficient standards this year for residential gas furnaces through the Department of Energy as part of an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The bills to be considered include the GOP-led Save Our Stoves Act, which aims to block the Department of Energy's standards on household stoves and ovens, and the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act, which seeks to block federal funds to ban gas stoves. The committee will also hear legislation about the congressional review process. The Separation of Powers Restoration Act of 2023 examines the scope of judicial review, and the REINS Act of 2023 explores Congress's legislative authority.
