A 24-year-old Singaporean bus driver was charged at Malaysia's Sessions Court on Thursday with misappropriating 500 litres of subsidised diesel without a licence.
Low Yong Pang Benjamin pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him in English by the court interpreter before Judge Fatimah Zahari.The Singaporean was suspected of conducting wholesale and retail dealings of the controlled goods without a licence. He was alleged to have committed the offence at a petrol station along Jalan Kempas Baru, a major highway in Johor Bahru at 10am on Tuesday.
He was charged under section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 , which is punishable under section 22 of the same Act.Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Sabiq Mohd Subri, proposed RM20,000 bail with two local sureties.The case will next be mentioned on July 6.
