Ban government shutdowns? Some Republicans and Democrats want to make it the law

They should do it. It's costly and solves nothing. Plus it hurts people.

Our government is way more broken then banning government shutdowns. This is reactive and slows a progressive resolve

It runs on tax payer money, it shouldn't be allowed to shut down unless the people say so. People forget WE elected those people to serve us.

There’s otherways they can get things done. I agree.

Shouldn't Congress just do their job and approve a budget and funding as required instead of kicking the can down the road so it becomes a crisis? So they want to pass a law that says when they don't do their job there are no repercussions?

No changes to the constitution

Wow same talking points every shutdown. Does anyone think congress is going to put deadlines on themselves? Make it interesting, impose fines if they don’t come in with a budget on time. We literally pay them to do this. If they can’t Americans are intilted to liquidated damages.

Nope. That’s tantamount to banning free discussions leading to democracy in action. It may be messy and horribly inconvenient for them and their re-election prospects... but it is democracy after all.

Parts of gov shuts down because of the big gov people can't do their jobs like building a wall that's been in the works for 40 years

That would require the same kind of bipartisanship needed to keep the government open to begin with.

I think they should take away the over paid big gov people's pay then they would fix the problems without shutdowns
