Ibrahim Braji, NDLEA commandant in Kaduna, in an interview with NAN on Sunday, said the suspects were arrested between January and March.
Braji said the suspects comprised 206 males and 12 females, adding that the number represented both the drug sellers and consumers. He added that seized drugs included cannabis sativa, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, tramadol and other psychotropic substances.“It is unfortunate that in spite of our various sensitisation and awareness programmes toward curbing trafficking and usage of illicit drugs, the situation persists,” he said.
“We counselled about 96 drug users as well as rehabilitated a number of persons within the period under review.“Notwithstanding, the command will continue to fight against drug trafficking and illegal drug consumption in the state to a standstill for positive results.” This story is published in partnership with Report for the World, a global service program that supports local public interest journalism.
