Two girls were groomed, humiliated and sexually abused by group of men in Rochdale, trial hears

Two girls were 'mere objects' to be groomed, humiliated and sexually abused by a group of men in Rochdale, a jury heard. Eight men have gone on trial at Minshull Street Crown Court accused of 80 sexual offences between 2002 and 2006.

Police were alerted, the court heard. The complainant told officers she had met a group of young men, including, Mohammed Ghani, when she was 12. The second complainant told police she was 13 when the abuse against her began, jurors were told. Jurors were told of an alleged occasion the first complainant was at a property in Rochdale known as the 'Butcher's flat' with Mohammed Ghani and a group of friends. She was challenged to a drinking contest and 'blacked out' and was later shown a video by his brother, Jahn Shahid Ghani, which showed her being sexually abused, the court heard.

She said she saw Mohammed Ghani 'hundreds of times' between 2002 and 2006 and that he would sexually abuse her and persuade her to have sex with his friends, the jury heard. Ikhlaq Yousef was said to be friends with Mohammed Ghani and Insar Hussain. Prosecutors allege he raped and sexually assaulted the girl on a number of occasions.
