Lawyers for E Jean Carroll, who claims Mr Trump raped her nearly three decades ago, say the episode undermines the former US President's argument that she was not his type.

Donald Trump appeared to mistake the woman who has accused him of raping her for an ex-wife in a video played to jurors in a civil rape suit against him.

He said:"It's Marla," referring to his second wife Marla Maples, before his lawyer corrected him saying:"No, that's Carroll."in a department store changing room in Manhattan in the mid-1990s, and then tarred her reputation by lying about it online - which he denies.
